The Goethe-Institut is looking for a committed employee from 01.02.2026 or later (initially limited until 31.12.2026).
The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute, active worldwide whose aims are to promote knowledge of the German language abroad, to foster international cultural cooperation and to convey a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information on cultural, social, and political life.
As an ONLINE COURSE COUNSELLOR, your main responsibilities, in coordination with the Head of Language Courses and Examinations, will include
- Counselling and providing information about the courses and examinations offered by the Goethe-Instituts in India, especially the online courses with focus on German Training Online
- Processing of changes, extensions, and refunds of participants in the online language courses
- Providing technical support to course participants during course enrolment
- Escalating technical problems to the Support team and coordinating with the course participants
- Providing support during campaigns for online courses and German training Online
- Processing and forwarding complaints
- Sending information to existing course participants regarding upcoming higher level courses
- Providing information for newsletter creation and managing the online course website
- Conducting surveys and documentation of the same
- Organizing and processing of enrolments for online courses including billing of fees and participant administration
- Organizing info - sessions for potential german language learners
- Organisation and processing of contracts and invoicing for teachers for the online courses in consultation with the Goethe-Instituts in India
- Informing candidates about the results of the level assessment test via telephone and/or e-mail
- General organisation of the language course office (online courses):
- E-mail correspondence and general correspondence in German and English
- Processing of applications, preparation of statistics and reports according to specifications
- Maintenance of the archive of the language course office (online courses)
Requirements
- High communicative competence and confident dealing with customers in direct contact as well as on the phone and in written correspondence
- Good to very good knowledge of written and spoken English, Hindi and Bengali
- German language skills at least at level B1
- Very good knowledge and use of MS Word, Outlook and Excel
- Willingness to familiarise yourself with the Goethe-Institut's course management software (OSKA)
- Good organisational and coordination skills
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Completed university degree or comparable qualification
