Administrative Officer
at the Goethe-Institut Kolkata with an employment scope of 50% (20 hours/week), remuneration according to the local remuneration scheme of the Goethe-Institutes in India
The Goethe-Institut is looking for a committed employee from 01.07.2026 or later (initially limited until 31.06.2027).
The Goethe-Institut e.V. is an intermediary organisation of the Federal Republic of Germany whose aims are to promote knowledge of the German language abroad, to foster international cultural cooperation and to convey a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information on cultural, social and political life..
Responsibilities
Website management- Maintain all sections of the Kolkata institute website (cultural programme, language courses, educational programmes, library, general information) and defined areas of the country portal.
- Ensure compliance with Corporate Design guidelines across all web content.
- Conduct Landing Page / Institute Home Page checks and monitor user statistics across website sections.
- Initiate and coordinate content creation (texts and images) for the homepage.
- Implement of web products in coordination with the Central Office's Internet Department and relevant project managers.
- Coordinate translation of website content.
- Provide internet-related advisory support during project planning and conceptualisation.
- Create and distribute the monthly newsletter and event reminders (up to weekly frequency as required).
- Distribute calls for applications at local, India-wide, and international levels.
- Support the institute's social media activities and content management.
- Maintain regular coordination with social media contacts on site.
- Review all print materials (invitation cards, posters, etc.) for compliance with Corporate Design guidelines.
- Proofread invitation cards, posters, and other printed collateral.
- Internal communication & knowledge management
- Manage the institute's internal calendar
- Maintain the registry and database
- Participate regularly in webinars and online trainings related to website and newsletter tools
- Train and support colleagues in the use of the content management system
Requirements
Education & experience- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in communications, media studies, journalism, digital marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in communications, digital content management, or a comparable role.
- Proficiency in content management systems (CMS); experience with web publishing tools and basic web quality assurance.
- Familiarity with email newsletter platforms and distribution workflows.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms and best practices for institutional communication.
- Proficiency in graphic design software for review and basic editing of print materials.
- Experience with analytics tools for tracking website performance (e.g. web statistics dashboards).
- Excellent written and spoken English (required).
- Good command of German (required).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to brand and editorial standards.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently
- Good interpersonal and coordination skills for working across teams and with external contacts
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and digital upskilling
