Launched in 2023, the program has included focus group discussions, networking meetings in Germany and Indonesia, and three artist residencies in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam (2025). A mini festival, co-developed in 2024 with 12 Southeast Asian and Southeast Asian German artists, will present outcomes from the residencies alongside five existing works selected via this open call.

The Goethe-Institut invites Southeast Asian and Southeast Asian diaspora artists, curators, and cultural practitioners based in Germany or Southeast Asia to submit existing works engaging with the Southeast Asian diaspora in Germany. Submissions will be evaluated on artistic quality, relevance to the theme, innovation, and feasibility. Attendance at the festival is optional, but possible for key contributors. The festival will take place in late 2025/early 2026 in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
