The Goethe-Institut Myanmar is looking for a motivated young professional to join our team as a Temporary Help: Digital Communications Assistant (full-time, 40 hours/week), starting on 15 February 2026.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for junior staff to gain hands-on experience in an international working environment and within a European cultural and educational institution. About the Goethe-Institut and the Communications Department

The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, active worldwide. It promotes knowledge of the German language abroad, fosters international cultural cooperation, and supports dialogue between civil societies.

The Communications Department at the Goethe-Institut Myanmar is responsible for managing all public relations, branding, and marketing initiatives. Its core function is to handle external communications, including disseminating updates and event information across multiple platforms such as social media (Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube), email invitations, and Google marketing campaigns. The department works closely with the Cultural, Language, and Library departments, providing expertise in branding and promotion to maximize audience reach. Furthermore, it is responsible for the institute's official documentation and archiving.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Communications Coordinator, the Digital Communications Assistant is responsible for content creation and community management across the institute's social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube). The role requires active collaboration with internal teams to support public relations activities, as well as managing event documentation and archiving digital assets. Additional responsibilities include supporting the design of promotional and print materials.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Temporary Help: Digital Communications Assistant, your responsibilities may include:
  • Translate, write, and edit content (Myanmar to English and vice versa) with a keen attention to detail.
  • Create engaging graphics for social media posts, event announcements, and other promotional materials.
  • Edit short-form videos (e.g., Instagram Reels) and other promotional video content.
  • Monitor social media channels, engage with the audience, and manage community interactions.
  • Assist in implementing digital marketing strategies to promote events and programs.
  • Taking minutes at cross-departmental team meetings
  • Support the department with documentation, archiving, and research tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required

  • University degree or equivalent training.
  • Currently based in Yangon.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Myanmar (German language skills are a plus)
  • Proven graphic design skills; proficiency in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar).
  • Basic understanding of digital marketing principles and major social media platforms.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and social listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends as required for events.
