About the Goethe-Institut and the Project
The Goethe‑Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, active worldwide. It promotes the German language abroad, fosters international cultural cooperation, and supports dialogue between civil societies.
The Academy of Care (AoC) is a flagship initiative of the Goethe‑Institut Myanmar focusing on creative arts therapies, trauma‑informed care, and community‑based approaches to trauma recovery, mental health, and psychosocial support (MHPSS).
Funded by the European Union, the project strengthens professional training, capacity building, and resilience in Myanmar’s care sectors. It promotes local and regional exchange and supports inclusive care practices for diverse communities across the country. By advancing the integration of creative arts therapies into mental health and wellbeing services, the AoC contributes to more holistic, accessible, and culturally responsive support systems in Myanmar.
