The Goethe-Institut Myanmar is seeking a committed and experienced colleague for the position of Small AoC Coordinator, starting from July 2026. The position is part of a multi‑year initiative supported by the European Union and will be offered on a three‑year fixed‑term contract.

The Goethe‑Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, active worldwide. It promotes the German language abroad, fosters international cultural cooperation, and supports dialogue between civil societies.
The Academy of Care (AoC) is a flagship initiative of the Goethe‑Institut Myanmar focusing on creative arts therapies, trauma‑informed care, and community‑based approaches to trauma recovery, mental health, and psychosocial support (MHPSS).
Funded by the European Union, the project strengthens professional training, capacity building, and resilience in Myanmar’s care sectors. It promotes local and regional exchange and supports inclusive care practices for diverse communities across the country. By advancing the integration of creative arts therapies into mental health and wellbeing services, the AoC contributes to more holistic, accessible, and culturally responsive support systems in Myanmar.
Position Overview
The Small AoC Coordinator leads the development and implementation of the Small Academy of Care as a dedicated space within the Academy of Care, focused on children, parents, families, and caregivers. Small AoC provides regular care sessions, creative workshops, and trauma-informed activities tailored to children’s psychosocial wellbeing and trauma recovery while also offering awareness-raising and information sessions for parents and caregivers.
The role ensures a holistic and child-centred approach that integrates creative arts therapies techniques, psychosocial support, trauma-informed practices, and strong child safeguarding standards and community outreach activities.
Working closely with the project team and external partners, the Small AoC Coordinator develops strategic and annual plans, designs activities, events and workshops, oversees implementation, builds and mentors specialised facilitators, and ensures high-quality, ethical, and responsive programme delivery. The role also manages coordination, budgeting, procurement, contracting, and financial administration related to Small AoC activities.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Development and Implementation
- Lead and manage Small AoC as a child-focused programme for young children, families, and caregivers.
- Plan and oversee regular care sessions, creative workshops, and trauma-informed psychosocial activities based on children’s developmental needs.
- Work with facilitators to ensure activities are safe, age-appropriate, and responsibly delivered.
- Monitor programme quality, gather feedback, and prepare clear documentation and updates.
- Coordinate communication and public engagement in line with EU and Goethe-Institut guidelines, while upholding child safeguarding and data protection standards.
Administrative and Institutional Coordination
- Manage expenses, procurement, and event logistics.
- Support annual planning and future programme development.
- Coordinate meetings, minutes, calendars, and contact lists.
- Maintain project records, systems, and documentation with confidentiality.
- Participate in staff onboarding and relevant training.
Communication and Visibility
- Support internal and external communication on AoC activities.
- support with reports, training summaries, and communication materials.
- Support visibility activities with the Advocacy & Visibility Coordinator in line with EU and Goethe-Institut guidelines.
Financial and Operational Oversight
- Support budget monitoring, cost planning, and expenditure tracking in line with EU and Goethe-Institut regulations.
- Prepare financial records and reports for programmes and events.
- Coordinate with administration and budget controllers on documentation and payments.
- Support audits and ensure timely, efficient completion of operational tasks
Qualifications and Requirements
Required
- A completed Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Education, in general Project Management, or a related field (Master's degree is an asset) and/or
- At least 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in early childhood programmes, child-focused initiatives, psychosocial support, or community-based education contexts for children and youth
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience in programme coordination, budgeting, financial planning, procurement, reporting, and contract preparation.
- Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent command of English and Myanmar (both spoken and written).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an intercultural and multidisciplinary environment.
- High integrity, confidentiality, and strong commitment to safeguarding and institutional values.
- Proficiency in MS Office and project management and digital tools.
- Sensitivity and experience working in crisis-affected and complex settings, including the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to travel within Myanmar for programme-related coordination and implementation.
Desirable
- Experience in creative arts-based early childhood programming or child-centred MHPSS initiatives.
- Experience developing safeguarding policies, risk assessments, or child protection procedures.
- Familiarity with international donor requirements, particularly EU-funded projects.
- Experience mentoring facilitators working with young children and caregivers.
- Proficiency in German and/or an ethnic language spoken in Myanmar is considered an advantage.
