On 8 July 2021 CBSE in collaboration with Goethe- Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan organised an Educators’ Conclave- on the theme "Promoting Skill Education in schools".

The new National Education Policy 2020 lays an increased emphasis on vocational training by integrating skill-orientated elements into the syllabus at an early stage. It aims at introducing students to professional skills during school days. Through this, it is envisioned that vocational training will become a desirable alternative to the “standard” academic stream. Pathways for apprenticeships have also to be developed for these students.

However, the new responsibility poses a challenge to many schools. To help the schools address this challenge and to offer viable solutions that are both industry-relevant as well as help in expanding the students’ scope of professional considerations CBSE in collaboration with Goethe- Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan organized  “SkillCon:  Educators’ Conclave on Promoting Skilling Education in Schools”.

Goethe-Institut, in coordination with CBSE and NVS partnered with IGCC and an attempt is being made to provide a solution to this.  Building upon its expertise in vocational education, the IGCC has developed a comprehensive concept aimed at supporting schools.

The concept is to be implemented in five Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the NCR in the pilot phase. These schools are a part of the project “German in 1000 schools”.  This project was presented at SkillCon.
